The German Red Cross (DRK) saves lives, assists in emergencies, provides communities, supports the poor and those in need, and upholds international humanitarian law - in Germany and around the world. As the largest humanitarian organization globally, the German Red Cross has been serving in the name of humanity for over 150 years. Volunteers are the cornerstone of this support to those in need, in accordance with the severity of the situation.
The DRK Voluntary Services in Rhineland-Palatinate are part of the German Red Cross (DRK) State Association of Rhineland-Palatinate e.V. The State Association encompasses various responsibilities, including emergency medical services, social services, education, child, youth, and family support, disability assistance, nursing, migration support, tracing services, first aid, voluntary services, youth Red Cross, blood donation, water rescue, and search and rescue dog operations, among others.

Our Principles
We, at the German Red Cross, are part of a global community, namely the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which impartially provides assistance to victims of conflicts and disasters, as well as other vulnerable individuals, solely based on their needs. In the spirit of humanity, we advocate for the lives, health, well-being, protection, peaceful coexistence, and dignity of all people.
This is the guiding principle of the German Red Cross, which all sub-organizations, sisterhoods, and teams adhere to. The following principles shape our work as part of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Humanity
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples.

The Movement is independent. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the Movement.

In the DRK State Association RLP e.V., a guideline on the topic of sexualized violence was created in 2015 for both full-time and volunteer staff. 'Out of Respect - Together Strong Against Sexualized Violence' establishes rules and standards that protect and support employees, allowing them to responsibly manage the safety of those in need and their colleagues. ALL of us stand up for a respectful and boundary-conscious interaction with each other!
